HONPINE has successfully developed seven HAG series Actuator-.html" >harmonic-drive-reducer-company.html" >harmonic reducer robotic servo actuators, including sizes 11, 14, 17, 20, 25, 32, and 40. These products can cover humanoid robot applications such as neck joints, upper limbs, waist joints, hip joints, and knee joints, with a torque range from 4.6 N·m to 556 N·m.
The biggest difference compared with commonly available harmonic actuator modules on the market is that the entire HAG series can integrate torque sensors and features built-in closed-loop force control. The torque sensor is embedded inside the joint, eliminating concerns about bending and torsional stress. In addition, the actuator supports 360-degree continuous rotation without cable management constraints.
It also supports four control modes: current mode, speed mode, position mode, and torque mode. Since the torque sensor is integrated internally, it does not increase the overall length of the module. Furthermore, we can offer both force-control and non-force-control versions with identical dimensions, allowing customers to easily switch configurations based on application needs.
The HAG-17 harmonic drive actuator has an outer diameter of 80 mm and gear ratios of 51, 81, and 101. Its rated torque options are 22 N·m, 28 N·m, and 32 N·m, while peak torque options are 38 N·m, 49 N·m, and 54 N·m.
It offers a positioning accuracy of up to ±20 arcseconds and a repeat positioning accuracy of up to ±5 arcseconds. The communication protocols supported include EtherCAT, CAN, and CAN-FD. It also comes with a built-in STO (Safe Torque Off) safety function.
In addition, the integrated driver includes two I/O terminal interfaces, making it easier for customers to integrate external signals into their systems.

HONPINE HAG harmonic joint modules are more competitive because they integrate high performance, high integration, low maintenance, and easy deployment into a single platform, meeting the combined demands of precision, reliability, and cost efficiency in industrial robots, humanoid robots, collaborative robots, and intelligent automation systems.
First, the highly integrated design significantly reduces system complexity. The HAG module integrates a high-torque precision harmonic reducer, frameless torque motor, absolute encoder, driver, and optional torque sensor and electromagnetic brake into a single unit, enabling direct torque closed-loop control. This reduces wiring complexity and mechanical design effort, shortens development cycles, lowers assembly costs, and improves system reliability.
Second, high precision and long-term stability are key advantages. With positioning accuracy up to ≤15 arcsec and repeatability up to ≤2 arcsec, the system ensures highly stable motion control for precision assembly, semiconductor manufacturing, medical equipment, and collaborative robotics. Its accuracy retention exceeds 10,000 hours, reducing performance degradation over time and ensuring long-term consistency.
Third, maintenance-free and long-life design significantly reduces operating costs. Traditional joint modules often require regular maintenance or part replacement, whereas the HAG harmonic actuator is maintenance-free throughout the lifecycle of the reducer. Combined with a modular design, it reduces downtime and improves system uptime, which is critical for continuous industrial production lines.
In addition, plug-and-play design and high compatibility improve system flexibility. The direct-drive integrated structure simplifies installation, while the hollow shaft design allows routing of cables, air pipes, and laser beams. Whether equipped with or without a brake or torque sensor, the module maintains the same dimensions, enabling easy configuration switching and reducing secondary development costs.
Finally, in the context of rapid robotics industry growth, the market increasingly demands lightweight, intelligent, standardized, and mass-producible solutions. With in-house developed core components, high integration, and a mature supply chain, HONPINE HAG modules offer strong cost-performance advantages and are well suited for humanoid robots, industrial automation, and embodied intelligence applications, making them highly competitive in the global market.
